NATIVE AMERICAN PROJECTILE POINT CLASSIFICATION GUIDE

Woodland II Period (A.D. 1000 - 1600.) In many parts of the Middle Atlantic region the Woodland II Period is characterized by the development of settled village life supported by agriculture based on corn, beans, and squash. However, to date we have almost no evidence of any such developments in Delaware. Woodland II sites from Delaware look very much like Woodland I sites with the exception that Woodland II pottery has incised decorations. During the Woodland II Period triangular points are the only type of projectile point manufactured (See Figure F). These points were probably used on arrows and it is believed that the bow and arrow were first introduced into Delaware at the beginning of this period.
