Walking tours of the New Castle Green, DeBraak shipwreck highlight local history
Explore the New Castle Green and stories of the HMS DeBraak shipwreck this spring and summer to learn more about the history of the waterside spaces and the structures surrounding them.
Tours of the New Castle Green, hosted by staff from the New Castle Court House Museum, will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Fridays throughout Summer 2025, include discussions about architecture featured on the Academy, the Sheriff’s House, the Court House, Immanuel Church’s architecture and the history surrounding these spaces and other historical structures and monuments found on and around The Green. This history will cover the creation of The Green by Peter Stuyvesant to current uses of the buildings today.
Tours run about one hour and begin in front of The New Castle Court House Museum. For more information, select a tour date below:

This summer, southern Delaware visitors will also have an opportunity to participate in a special tour exploring the history, artifacts and surviving hull section of the HMS DeBraak, an 18th-century shipwreck.
