History organizations urged to complete national visitation survey

The American Association for State and Local History is asking history organizations to complete its visitation survey that will be used in developing the 2023 National Visitation Report. The report will provide data about attendance at historical organizations of all types and sizes, providing a measurable assessment of Americans’ engagement with U.S. history museums, sites and other institutions. History organizations are urged to go to the following to take the survey which will close on March 15, 2023.

Based on data from more than 773 responses, the association’s 2022 National Visitation Report noted that, following months of closures and restrictions during the height of the COVID pandemic, visits to history organizations increased by nearly 75 percent between 2020 and 2021, although visitation remained about half of what it was before the pandemic.
