If you’re in the market for a true historical adventure, consider spending a day or two at First State Heritage Park’s 18th Century Market Fair. Several Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs sites will participate in the unique affair: The Old State House in Dover will host a quill pen writing activity on Saturday and tours of the building on both days. The Zwaanendael Museum in Lewes will offer a program outside, on Saturday only. The John Dickinson Plantation near Dover will also be joining the festivities on Saturday only with a sachet-making activity.

The 18th Century Market Fair brings the colonial past to life through themed performers and vendors. Highlights include 18th-century conjuror Peter Gardiner, Doc Balthazar’s Marvelous Miracle Medicine Show, marionette puppet shows, 18th-century musical performances, Professor Horn’s Punch and Judy Show and 18th-century dancing. Dozens of vendors are participating, including food and drink vendors.

This is a free, family-friendly event. It will take place at First State Heritage Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on  Saturday, Nov. 4, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5. For more information, go to destateparks.com/marketfair.
