December 5, 2009 - "A Musical Holiday"
Travel back to the early 1900s and hear musical favorites inspired by winter and the holiday season. 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
January 2, 2010 - "No Bones About It..."
Celebrate the Johnson Victrola Museum's newest acquisition of Nipper collectibles and hear the story of how this once stray dog became one of America's oldest trademarks. 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. with a make-and-take craft activity for children from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
February 6, 2010 - "A Vintage Valentine"
Listen to romantic music, hear stories of the heart, and learn about the history of Valentine's Day. 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. with a craft activity in which children can make fanciful valentine cards from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Group Tours
Tours and other interpretive programs take place during normal operating hours. However, large groups that are interested in attending a tour must make reservations in advance by emailing the site supervisor or calling 302-744-5055.
The following topics are available for group tours:
The Wonderful Talking Machine (adults/students grades 4-8; 30 minutes)
Describes the Victor Talking Machine Company, its people, music, and the evolution of recorded sound.
Johnson and the Golden Age of Music (adults/students grades 7-12; 45 minutes)
Enables guests to listen to music and exchange ideas about political and social concerns referenced in period recordings.
