New Castle History Camp explores Delaware’s Revolutionary roots

The third annual New Castle History Summer Camp, held at the end of July, focused on the Revolutionary History of New Castle. Participants ages 10 to 13 learned about the lives of Delaware Revolutionary soldiers, held a mock trial for a loyalist, moved the capital from New Castle to Dover, assisted in creating the Bill of Rights, learned about colonial food and looked at how we painted events from the time period.

On the last day, campers presented their diary-based project to family and friends. The event is organized by the New Castle Court House Museum, First State National Historical Park, New Castle Historical Society, New Castle Public Library and The Read House and Garden.
