Buena Vista named polling site, voting exhibit continues at New Castle Court House Museum
It’s an election year, which means local voters may end up casting ballots at historic sites like northern Delaware’s Buena Vista estate.
Buena Vista, on DuPont Highway near New Castle, will serve as a local polling place for local Delawareans voting in the the upcoming presidential primary on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. It will serve as one of dozens of polling locations that will be used statewide.
Also in New Castle County, the New Castle Court House Museum is still hosting the “Your Vote, Your Voice” exhibition that explores the history of voting, including its own time serving as a polling station in the late 17th and early 18th centuries.”
The history of voting rights and the sociopolitical climate in Delaware was greatly influenced by its geography as a state bordering the Mason-Dixon Line. While changes have been made to ensure the right to vote, disparities in the process endanger particular groups.
