John Dickinson Plantation

Thistledown Fiber Arts Guild demonstrations – Saturday, Nov. 11
The Thistledown Fiber Arts Guild will showcase historic skills such as spinning, weaving, knitting and other handicrafts during regular tours of the John Dickinson Plantation. A group meeting will be held from 1-3 p.m. in the Mansion Dining Room.

Bayberry candle workshop – Saturday, Nov. 18
Discover how the bayberry plant was historically used in candle production, with the opportunity for guests to make their own bayberry candles. Held in conjunction with the Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve (DNERR). Reservations are required and open on Tuesday, Oct. 24. All reservations must be made via phone and confirmed by a staff member.

New Castle Court House Museum

Well-Seasoned Heirlooms – Friday, Nov. 17
Historic Interpreter Kimberly Fritsch shines a spotlight on the practices, recipes and women of Delaware history as they speak to us through their food. This is a virtual event hosted via Facebook. For more information, visit the site’s Facebook page

Old State House Museum

First State Heritage Park Market Fair – Saturday, Nov. 4 and Sunday, Nov. 5
The Old State House will participate in the annual First State Heritage Park Market Fair. Saturday’s activities also include Zwaanendael Museum staff giving a presentation on the historical life at sea and John Dickinson Plantation staff hosting a sachet-making activity. The museum will be open to the public and feature quill pen writing demonstrations throughout the day. For more information about the Market Fair, visit First State Heritage Park’s website

Friends of Folk concert – Friday, Nov. 10
Featuring musician Mike Weyrauch, whose influences include the sounds of gospel, soul, alternative, classic rock and Americana. For more information about Weyrauch, visit his website. Presented as part of the Delaware Friends of Folk concert series.

Time: Doors open at 6:45 p.m., performance begins at 7 p.m.

Zwaanendael Museum

Hospitality Night – Thursday, Nov. 30
The Zwaanendael Museum will be open late to take part in Lewes’s annual Merchant Hospitality Night, and will host holiday-themed programs, music, refreshments and seasonal decorations by the Sussex Gardeners.
